“ALBUM LINER NOTES” and Track List
CHAPTER ONE
PUNJAB 139
Alan Ace Cooper ©2006 Thumpasaurus Music 2006 ASCAP
Alan Ace Cooper – 5 String Bass, 8 String Bass, e-Dohl drum, Keyboards, Udu, Percussion, Drum programming. Drum Program editing by Darryl White. Monika Gupta – Spoken Word and Punjabi Indian Translation. Produced by Alan Ace Cooper. Engineered by Mike Andreski and Keith Burrell.
This track is my take on David’s 139th Psalm. I used the Middle Eastern flavored drum loop and added a Punjabi styled drum rhythm with a Peter Gabriel/Tony Levin bass tone, then I tossed in some Funk for additional flavor! All of it set the tone for Monika’s incredible voice!
HEAVEN

A great track that Charles and I nailed on the first take. Raw studio “live” energy!

FULL PUNJABI DINNER/MUMBO SAUCE & CHICKEN WINGS
Alan Ace Cooper ©2006 Thumpasaurus Music ASCAP; Alan Ace Cooper – Electric Bass, Darbuka drums, Keyboards, e-Dohl drum, Udu, all Keyboard drum samples and Vocals on Mumbo Sauce. Drum program editing by Tony Waters. Voice clip from “Bend It Like Beckham”: Directed by; Gurinder Chadha. FOX Movies USA, RedBus Films UK. Produced by Alan Ace Cooper. Engineered by Keith Burrell and Cory Stocker.
I am in love with the Beckham movie and it’s star, Parminder Nagra. Musically, I was inspired by Punjabi artist, Bally Sagoo, Milkit Singh, B21 and Hans Raj Hans. Once I realized how community relational Punjabi/Bhangra and Washington, DC GoGo music styles were, I decided to fuse the two. For Mumbo Sauce I borrowed some inspiration from Chuck Brown, Sugar Bear with EU and Atlanta’s, Anthony Hamilton. It took a lot for this 3 minute track, but I wanted to play every thing and play it well. My favorite bass solo is on this track.
CHAPTER THREE
MR. MILLER
Alan Ace Cooper ©2006 Thumpasaurus Music ASCAP. Alan Ace Cooper – Electric Bass and Drum Programming. Produced by Alan Ace Cooper. Engineered by Keith Burrell.
The original title was going to be “The Thumpasaurus Rex”. However, I am a HUGE fan of Bassist and Composer, Marcus Miller, so I thought it fitting to dedicate this track.
ANOINTING
Donn Thomas ©1988 New Spring Music Publishing. Arranged by Tony Waters, Charles Marvray, Alan Ace Cooper. Alan Ace Cooper – Bass, Tony Waters- Keyboards; Charles Marvray – Drums and Percussion; Charles Wright – Electric Guitar; Larry Seals – Saxophone. Produced by Sacred Groove. Engineered by Shannon Walton. Editing by Keith Burrell.
A great track from the SG When 3 Become One disc. Everything and everybody just seemed to click that day. A major leap from the Ron Kenoly version.
HOW YOU LOVE ME
Michael Himes ©2003. Alan Ace Cooper – Acoustic Electric Bass, Djembe drum and Percussion; Michael Himes – Vocals and Acoustic Guitar. Produced by Michael Himes and Alan Ace Cooper (ASCAP). Engineered by Michael Himes and Keith Burrell.
I could hardly track this song without crying. The lyric, “You love me like gravity, always pulling me” is amazing!
I WILL FOLLOW “LIVE BOOTLEG” (BONUS TRACK)
Tony Waters and Al McSpadden ©2006 ASCAP. Alan Ace Cooper – Bass; Tony Waters – Keyboards; Al McSpadden – Soprano Saxophone, Chris Hibbert – Drums. Produced by Sacred Groove. Editing by Keith Burrell.
I really wanted to include this track because it is a special performance by a special group of musicians! It comes as a Bonus Track because of it’s less than perfect sound quality. I had it dumped into ProTools from a cassette tape that someone mailed to me. The live audience claps were weak, so I added some less than authentic hand claps from a Korg Triton. As with Anointing, everyone seemed to be clicking that day.
